Creating Awareness-Poetry, Social Justice, and the 6Cs

For years, educators have focused on the 4Cs of 21st Century Learning, Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Communication. Author Michael Fullan of Deep Learning:Engage the World Change the World suggests students need to develop 6Cs. Along with the 4Cs mentioned above, students also need to grow their skills in the areas of Citizenship and Character Development. In order to become good citizens, schools are focusing on developing empathy and kindness in their students. Participants are invited to step into the shoes of a learner and experience 6Cs through social justice topics. Using Book Creator for Chrome, participants will create, publish, and share poetry. The hope is for participants to leave this session with ideas for raising awareness of injustice and empowering students to make the world a kinder, gentler place.
